We know that there continues to be systemic issues affecting young lawyers within the legal profession. These include the impacts of high-performance expectations, experiences of harassment, bullying and discrimination, and a resistance to creating fit for purpose working conditions. We also know that proactively taking action to raise these issues can be extremely difficult and confronting for individuals, leading to greater amounts of stress and anxiety.
This special Law Week forum brings together a panel representing the different sectors of the legal profession to tackle strategies for engaging in these tough conversations. It aims to provide a guide for young lawyers on how to go about raising these issues and a lesson for established practitioners on how to provide an environment that encourages concerns being heard and acted upon.
