Around 1200 to 1500 students participate in the Mock Trial Competition every year. Over the course of the year we run 180 mock trials so assistance is required from volunteer lawyers, law graduates, law students and retired lawyers to coach school teams for the season, or to be a competition judge for one or more of the trials.
Most of our volunteers are long term volunteers and former MTC participants who enjoy the opportunity to pass on their knowledge, and hone their own advocacy skills, through the unique experience of being a mock trial judge.Â
We have volunteers ranging from law students (who only recently participated themselves as high school students), law graduates, associates and ushers, practicing lawyers (at all levels) through to returned barristers and judges. Lawyers with LPBWA Practitioner Ids are eligible to earn CPD points from attending.Â
The MTC is a valuable rewarding experience for those who love the law or seeking a fun way to engage in trial advocacy.
If you would like to help young adults in this valuable community program, please register below and Sarah, our Mock Trial Coordinator, will reach out personally to discuss options.Â
This form is for law students, graduates, legal practitioners who wish to express interest in being an advocacy coach or competition judge in the Mock Trial Competition
