The Law Society of Western Australia congratulates the Hon Justice Janine Pritchard, who has been appointed as a judge of the Court of Appeal of Western Australia. Justice Pritchard will take up the position immediately.
The Law Society also congratulates Paul Glass, who has been appointed as a magistrate of the Family Court of Western Australia, effective from 1 October 2018.
The appointments were announced by the Attorney General, the Hon John Quigley MLA.
Law Society President Hayley Cormann said, “On behalf of the legal profession of Western Australia, I take the opportunity to congratulate both Justice Pritchard and Magistrate Glass on their respective appointments. I have no doubt that both Justice Pritchard and Magistrate Glass will provide outstanding service to the community of Western Australia for many years to come.
“Justice Pritchard has been a longstanding and valued member of the Law Society, having joined in 1994. The Law Society is very grateful for Justice Pritchard’s ongoing support of our Continuing Professional Development programme. Justice Pritchard was notably a speaker at the Law Society’s flagship Law Summer School conference earlier this year.”
Ms Cormann also commended the appointment of Magistrate Glass, who will relocate from Victoria, saying, “On behalf of the Law Society and our members, I welcome Magistrate Glass to Western Australia. Magistrate Glass has been a talented practitioner in the area of family law for many years. His commitment to access to justice is evidenced by his time at Victoria Legal Aid, where he practised as a Senior Family Lawyer from 2009 to 2011. Since then, Magistrate Glass has practised as a barrister at the Victorian Bar and served as a part-time member of the Victorian Administrative Appeals Tribunal.”
