Senior Counsel Appointments 2020

The Law Society congratulates the six practitioners appointed as Senior Counsel, as announced today by the Chief Justice of Western Australia, the Hon Justice Peter Quinlan.

The appointments are Mr Graham Droppert, Ms Penelope Giles, Mr Matthew Curwood, Mr Alan Sefton, Ms Kim Lendich and Mr Lindsay Fox.

Law Society President Nicholas van Hattem said, “On behalf of the Law Society and the wider legal profession I congratulate each of the newly appointed Senior Counsel. The Society, profession and the community will all benefit from the contribution of these senior lawyers in the role of Senior Counsel.”

Mr Graham Droppert is a barrister practising in personal injuries litigation, including medical negligence claims, from Albert Wolff Chambers. Mr Doppert has been a member of the Law Society since the beginning of his legal career in 1983.

Ms Penelope Giles practises from Murray Chambers, predominantly in family law, including parenting and financial matters. She also practises in industrial law and equal opportunity and discrimination law. Ms Giles has been a member of the Law Society since her admittance date in 1987.

Mr Matthew Curwood practises as a barrister from Francis Burt Chambers in commercial litigation, with an emphasis on Wills and Estates and Equity and Trusts. Mr Curwood has been a member of the Law Society since his admittance date in 1993.

Mr Alan Sefton currently holds the office of State Counsel within the State Solicitor’s Office and practises in public law and commercial law.

Ms Kim Lendich is a barrister practising in commercial litigation, torts and insurance and native title from Francis Burt Chambers.

Mr Lindsay Fox is a Senior State Prosecutor in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and practises in criminal law, predominantly in appeals before the Court of Appeal.
