Indigenous Legal Issues

The Indigenous Legal Issues Committee promotes discussion and prepares submissions on policy, legal issues and law reform initiatives of importance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The Committee advises the Law Society in relation to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mentoring program and has a particular interest in youth justice issues.

 In 2024, the Committee relaunched the Sir Ronald Wilson annual lecture as the Sir Ronald Wilson Oration series to provide a platform for discussion and insight into Indigenous legal or humanitarian issues of significance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
