World Environment Day 2026

World Environment Day 2026

World Environment Day 2026

Since 1974, World Environment Day has been celebrated each year on 5 June, bringing together governments, businesses and communities to focus attention on pressing environmental issues.

The law has a transformative role to play in addressing environmental challenges, and this year the Law Society will mark World Environment Day by hosting a CPD event in partnership with Allens, with the support of our Environment, Town Planning and Local Government Committee.

Our experts will consider recent developments at the State and Commonwealth level in relation to:

  • Cumulative impact assessment;
  • Environmental offsets; and
  • The Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Cth) (EPBC Act).

Programme

5.00pm – 5.15pm: Registrations

5.15pm – 6.30pm: Seminar

6.30pm – 7.00pm: Networking sundowner
