Parliamentary Insights: Tradition, Law and Ethics

This insightful CPD event will explore the ethical foundations and procedural frameworks that guide parliamentary operations. Chaired by Matthew Bates, Clerk of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, the discussion will feature Thomas Moorhead, Sergeant-at-Arms of the Legislative Assembly, who will provide a brief explanation of the Standing Orders and the application of ethical principles within Parliament and its committees. He will also highlight foundational cases on parliamentary privilege.

Dr. Colin Huntly of Murray Chambers will provide a legal perspective, examining the ethical challenges and legal complexities that arise in parliamentary law, including examples from seminal Select Committee reports.

This seminar is essential for professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge of legal principles of ethical conduct applicable in parliamentary settings.
