Join Sue Kee to hear about her recent doctoral research on the ethics of undergraduate clinical legal education (CLE) programs offered at Australian university law schools. Sue’s research investigated how learning outcomes used in CLE programs, referable to the curriculum requirements laid down by the Higher Education Standards Framework, support a form of ethical learning that underpins clinical teaching and learning strategies.
The discussion will assist participants in identifying the difference between the ethical principles of professional conduct established by the common law and the Australian Solicitors’ Conduct Rules, and the fundamental ethic of justice and the ideal of an ethical lawyer with a commitment to community service.
