Emerging issues in administrative and migration law

This seminar will provide practitioners with insights into the emerging issues in migration law. It will aim to provide practitioners on significant developments in migration law in the last year with a particular focus on developments related to practice at the Administrative Review Tribunal and the Federal Courts.

This session is catered for practitioners interested in the emerging issues around the Nauru deal, s501 of the Migration Act 1985 (Cth), and current migration cases at the Federal Courts.

The seminar will run from 5.15pm – 6.30pm with networking until 7.00pm.

Cobey Taggart SC, Francis Burt Chambers

Cobey has a wide-ranging national practice in public and administrative law across State, Territory and Federal jurisdictions. She regularly appears in the Federal Court, Full Federal Court and High Court of Australia (both led and unled) as well as other Federal, State and Territory courts and tribunals. Cobey is regularly briefed by Government and public agencies as well as corporate and individual clients. She has experience across a range of subject matter, including regulatory proceedings, taxation, NDIS matters, mining and environment matters, professional disciplinary proceedings, migration and native title.

Alice Graziotti, Special Counsel, Estrin Saul Lawyers

Alice is Estrin Saul Lawyers’ Special Counsel in the Character and Visa Cancellations Practice. Her passion lies in assisting visa holders experiencing family violence to leave abusive relationships without losing their ability to remain in Australia, and assisting those facing character cancellation or refusal due to criminal convictions. She regularly represents clients dealing with the Department of Home Affairs, as well as at the Administrative Review Tribunal and Federal Court.

Munashe is a Practice Leader at Estrin Saul Lawyers. Munashe regularly appears in the Administrative Review Tribunal and Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia in matters relating to the visa health requirement, Protection (subclass 866) visa applications, and matters concerning the character requirement.
