This webinar will be of interest to commercial lawyers, as it provides an update on recent developments with respect to the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (PPSA). In particular, the webinar will canvass the proposed comprehensive amendments in the exposure drafts of the Personal Property Securities Amendment (Framework Reform) Bill 2023 and the Personal Property Securities Regulations 2023 which were published for consultation by the Attorney-General’s Department in September 2023. Once enacted, these amendments intend to achieve a clearer, more consistent and more accessible PPS framework and, will thus affect the advice and practices of commercial lawyers.
The session will also include:
(a) a discussion of recent PPSA case law and how the courts’ interpretation of various provisions in the PPSA may affect your practice; and
(b) some guidance on certain issues arising in commercial practice that have yet to be considered by the courts.
