Dr Adrian McCullagh, Principal, ODMOB Lawyers.

Topics covered include:

  • 3 Basic Rules – Ethics
  • AI Ethics and AI Governance Policy
  • Demonstrations on AI Tools Scribbr and CLAUDE

2. Execution of Documents – Everything you Need to Know

Stephen Dobbs, Partner, Herbert Smith Freehills.

Australian jurisdictions have varying rules in relation to the execution of deeds and simple contracts.

This seminar will review why they differ, when digital execution is permitted (and when it is not), the scenarios that give rise to the most confusion and will touch on the current position in relation to digital signing of statutory declarations.

3. 10 Ethical Questions You’ve Always Wanted to Ask

Linden Barnes, Senior Ethics Solicitor, Law Society of NSW.
Ashley Macknay,
Director, MDS Legal.

Join Linden Barnes and Ashley Macknay to delve into burning ethical questions that may face all lawyers. Examples of ethical scenarios will be posed and discussed such as: Your client in a criminal trial is in the witness box under XXN and gives an answer you know is false. What do you do? At a sentencing, the prosecutor provides your client’s criminal record to the court and you realise it is incomplete? Do you tell the Court? You are acting in a family law matter, and you see your client in a social setting when he/she propositions you? Can you accept?

Disclaimer:

  1. This seminar is subject to change.
  2. The Legal Practice Board of Western Australia states that CPD units are awarded for a full hour and/ or half-hour of attendance. Lesser periods are rounded down to the nearest half hour.
